top dog

does a higher education really matter when it comes to reaching the top? i don't think so anymore. all you need is clever packaging and you can rise faster than the froth in your beer glass. but of course, staying there is another matter altogether, and this is where those degrees come into play. i have encountered many bright chaps who have pulled off a top spot but haven't a clue about managing people or themselves after reaching there. all they do is surround themselves with people less fortunate than themselves to feel like they belong. but in effect, they don't and they know it.
then again, what degrees can't touch is experience, and that's for another post. till then...

hmm..thats true i guess..but some points have to be given for getting to the top anyway. blending the qualifications with experience is the perfect match, but todays world is a race. its all about who gets where first.

mind curry: the race is in the mind. you have the prerogative of staying away from the race. would you really mind if you got there (where ever that is) the last or first? just the fact that you have reached might be exhilarating enough...at least for me! but then i am not a very materialistic person (i think!).

@ anirudh - i dont think its about being materialistic or not..its about satisfying yourself..but like you said what drives different people are different things..about first or last..there are certain things where it helps to reach first i guess.
