this or that

Someone told me the other day that I am not idealistic. I stand by that. I never was either.

I can either be practical or principled depending on my mood at that time of day.

But I am not idealistic.

Truth is I don't know anyone who is anymore...

Isn't there a difference between being idealistic and being ideal? I used to think being idealistic was being a perfectionist. If thats what it still means, I bet you'll find people like those. Monica Geller, for instance :p

When I say idealistic, I refer to those people who swear by patriotism, khadi, reservations for backward classes etc... They are the ones who believe everyone should not give or accept bribes, there should be no nepotism, people should climb up the ladder because of their talents etc...

I am much too practical to believe in all this... can't say I am proud of it though!!

The only reason I don't believe in all of the above is because I encounter the grim reality every so often. So much so I have ceased to believe in all of the rest.

But its good to be old fashioned every once in a while!

the fact that u r perturbed by ur 'lack of idealism' has to be a sign of something...but what?
